GETTING

THERE

We want you to have plenty of time for planning and booking your travel when it’s most affordable. Here is all the information we think you’ll need to know to get to Stewarts Point—but if you have any questions please reach out to us! Keep scrolling for more information on where to book your stay!

The three main airports to fly into are San Francisco (SFO), Oakland (OAK), & Sonoma County Airport (STS).

The Carlsons are hosting a welcome dinner Friday night from 5:00-9:00p. As you plan your trip, know that after your flight you will need to drive up Highway 1, which is beautiful in daylight but can be difficult to navigate at night. Plan accordingly! We recommend arriving Thursday if you want to sightsee, or Friday morning.

SFO has the most variety of prices and available flights from different airlines. Note that August 31st is a holiday weekend and traffic out of the Bay Area will be heavier, so plan for additional time.

3H TO STEWARTS POINT

Oakland is an easy airport to navigate and has a slightly quicker drive up the coast. Note that August 31st is a holiday weekend and traffic out of the Bay Area will be heavier, so plan for additional time.

3H TO STEWARTS POINT

The Charles M Schultz Sonoma County Airport is the quickest route to Stewarts Point.
If you are coming from Los Angeles, we recommend flying to STS using Avelo from Burbank. There are only a couple flights throughout the week that fly direct to STS, but if you book them in advance they are reasonably priced.

WHERE

TO

STAY

There are a lot of beautiful coastal spots to stay—make your plans in advance for the holiday weekend!

The stretch of coast above our venue at Stewarts Point features gorgeous headlands and redwoods. The town of Gualala and The Sea Ranch community have ample opportunities for lodging: you have your pick of ocean-view hotel rooms and air-bnbs to coastal-redwood-grove-cabins. We hope you find a place to stay that will make your weekend with us extra special. Since this is a holiday weekend, and a popular time, we recommend booking lodging as soon as you can.

We’ve blocked rooms at The Hotel Breakers in the town of Gualala. We have these rooms on hold until May 15th! Please mention the Carlson-Coyne wedding when you call. Below are other (great) options that do not have guaranteed rooms. Book quickly!

Hotel Breakers

The Hotel Breakers features cozy oceanfront rooms and a local gem, the Vue Kitchen, which is their delicious restaurant, featuring local fare and beautiful views of the beach. We (think) each room has a balcony and fireplace which makes them 100x more adorable. In walking distance of shops and restaurants in Gualala.

The Surf

The Surf Motel (also called The Surf Inn) was the first lodging establishment in Gualala, built in 1965. Beautiful sunset views from Adirondack chairs on the bluff—and pet friendly. In walking distance of any restaurant in the town of Gualala. If any of you come on a motorcycle they give you a special towel, which we think is cool.

St. Orres

St. Orres is a Coyne Family favorite. A boutique hotel, St. Orres has rooms (with shared baths) as well as private cabins nestled into meadows and the redwoods. St. Orres is super pet friendly. Onsite is their Creekside Spa which boasts a sauna, hot tub, and sun deck, and North Coast cuisine: an award-winning restaurant that features a menu of local seafood, wild game, and locally foraged ingredients.

The Sea Ranch Lodge

The Sea Ranch is an iconic architectural movement that defined an era of coastal habitation and harmonious eco-living. Now a sprawling community, it still maintains echoes of its past ethos. The Sea Ranch Lodge is an excellent example: luxurious and comfortable—overlooking a generous expanse of coastline. The Lodge is worth a trip in and of itself just to marvel at the architecture (and excellent food in The Dining Room with unparalleled views). And there’s golf.

RENTALS

Rentals are a great option. We recommend looking in Sea Ranch, where you can rent houses on both sides of the highway 1, with housing on oceanside headlands or in coastal redwoods and meadows. There are some great hiking and walking trails in the area, wild Sea Ranch beaches, and The Sea Ranch spa, pool, and sport facilities (including pickle ball).
